Back in Black Nighthawk LS Engine Build (Part 1): The Short Block

With each engine build Trick Flow is involved with, Trick Flow tries try to do something different, with a unique appearance approach. For this go-around, Trick Flow commissioned Mike Mavrigian’s shop, Birchwood Automotive, to build a street performance engine for AERA (Automotive Engine Rebuilders Association). The result: a GM LS with Trick Flow GenX® 225 aluminum cylinder heads making 629 horsepower packaged in an understated satin black color scheme, dubbed the “Nighthawk LS.” The engine was subsequently displayed at the recent Performance Racing Industry trade show in Indianapolis, and raffled off to a lucky winner, with proceeds going to the association’s educational fund.
