"Ultimate Bolt-On Performance"

We have heard a lot about the Demon series of carburetors since they were introduced earlier this year. But the Trick Flow 18 degree head test was the first opportunity we've had to see a Demon at work. The Demon is not just a good-looking rehash of an existing design; it's all-new from the baseplate up. The main body is made with a special die-casting technology that produces perfectly smooth, concentric venturi with specially contoured openings for maximum airflow. The venturi boosters are replaceable, which makes fine-tuning for weather or new engine combinations much easier. The billet aluminum baseplate and metering blocks eliminate breakage and porosity problems. The large-capacity float bowls ensure adequate fuel delivery and more stable fuel levels at maximum output, and feature large glass-sight windows for easy float adjustment. Demon Carburetion even uses non-stick gaskets to make assembly and disassembly easier. Trick Flow used an 825 cfm Race Demon/RS for the test sessions. The important feature lies in the RS designation, which indicates the carburetor has removable venturi sleeves. Just swap the sleeves for a different size (Demon Carburetion has them in diameters ranging from 1.064 in. to 1.590 in.) and presto--you've just changed the carburetor size. Combine that with the 10 different types of replaceable venturi boosters Demon Carburetion offers, and the tuning possibilities are virtually endless. |
The Race Demon/RS carburetor used in the Trick Flow head tests was prepped for high rpm oval track small blocks--a great match for the 18 degree heads. The Race Demon/RS carburetor used in the Trick Flow head tests was prepped for high rpm oval track small blocks--a great match for the 18 degree heads. The carb features removable venturi sleeves (bottom) which allow you to literally change the size of the carburetor without changing the main body. The Race Demon also has replaceable venturi boosters to make fine-tuning for track, weather, or engine changes a snap.
The guys at Demon Carburetion are very proud of the contoured air entries on their carbs--in fact, they were proud enough to get a patent on 'em. The entry profiles are shaped to promote maximum air flow into the carburetor, eliminate excess fuel problems, and improve venturi booster action. |
